Map

How will every outcome be taught and assessed?

The failure it prevents Gaps discovered only at audit

Map plans how every outcome will be assessed and delivered, before anything is written. Its defining artefact is the mapping matrix: the record that links each outcome descriptor to the assessment tasks and delivery sessions that address it.

This is the cheapest point in the lifecycle to find errors. Reviewing a coverage plan costs far less than rewriting a finished assessment.

The delivery sessions planned here are provisional. They are fitted to the calendar at Plan delivery.

What happens

  • Choose the assessment strategy: the methods, the number of tasks, and what each task will evidence.
  • Fill the mapping matrix so every descriptor has at least one assessment task and one delivery session planned against it.

Exit gate
Coverage plan approved

At the gate, ask

  • Does every descriptor have planned evidence? Does every planned task trace to a descriptor?
  • Where a program clusters several standards, can each standard's coverage still be read on its own?
  • Would an auditor find the plan complete today, before anything is built?

The purpose, artefact, exit gate and failure come from the paper's stage table. The question, what happens and the gate questions are this site's guidance.
