The gate checklist
The gate checklist is a list of questions to bring to a review, and you can print it today. It lists every stage's exit gate, what the stage produces, and the questions to ask before passing the gate.
It is generated from the same stage data as every stage page, so it never drifts from them. The gates and what each stage produces come from the paper's stage table (§5); "At the gate, ask" is this site's own guidance.
You can take it into a client's review as a list of questions. It is not a compliance tool and does not replace pre-use review or post-use validation. Ticking every question does not make an assessment tool compliant with any standard.
Templates and worked examples
None is published yet. Two worked examples are planned, each taking material through all ten stages. One is TAEASS412 Assess competence, a current unit of competency; the other is a light, unregulated program.
Templates and a starter set follow the worked examples. When they arrive, the same rule will apply: a template does not confer compliance.
Glossary
The glossary defines the model's words in the sense this site uses them. Where a sector uses a different word, Your sector says which; the glossary is not written for one sector.
Sources
Every fact about the world on this site is meant to trace to a row in the sources register, kept in the open on GitHub. Each row carries one of three statuses:
- verified: opened, read, and the cited detail (author, year, title, clause or page) confirmed against the original;
- link-checked: the page opened, but the cited detail is not yet confirmed;
- from-memory: nobody here has opened it. Some rows are marked lead: a pointer worth following that has not loaded or been read.
A page publishes a claim only when its source is verified. The paper is the one exception. While it carries its draft note, it is published with some references still unverified, and verifying them runs as a tracked job in the register.
At 23 October 2026, eight of the paper's references are recorded from memory: Beck 2002; Brown 1992; Bryk and others 2015; Collins 1992; Cunningham 1992; Forsgren, Humble and Kim 2018; Gentner 1983; Kim and others 2016. Four are link-checked only: Allen 2012; Branson and others 1975; IEEE ICICLE; Molenda 2003. The register, not this page, is current.
Research
The research agenda lists the six claims the paper makes and the study that would test each. The research records on GitHub hold what has been read so far and what it showed.
