Plan delivery
Can this be delivered in the time and modes we have?
The failure it prevents A program that cannot be delivered in the time available
Plan delivery reconciles the design with reality. Timetables, term lengths and delivery modes are hard constraints: a program that cannot be delivered in the time available is not finished, however good its materials are.
What happens
- Plan sessions or modules within the real calendar and the delivery modes available.
- Place every activity and assessment in a session, and estimate the time each takes.
- Trace each session back to the matrix, so the plan shows where every outcome is delivered.
- Purpose
- Fit everything into the real timetable.
- What it produces
- Session or module plan
- Exit gate
- Every outcome has a delivery session
At the gate, ask
- Does every outcome have a delivery session?
- Does the planned time on task fit the hours available, with room for learners who need longer?
- Could a trainer new to this program deliver it from the plan?
The purpose, artefact, exit gate and failure come from the paper's stage table. The question, what happens and the gate questions are this site's guidance.
